Walt Disney World Annual Passholders have started to receive their MagicBands in the mail starting this week. Previously only available to guests staying at Disney hotels, the MagicBand is Disney’s new ticket, Fastpass, hotel key and credit card all in one.
Now available to Disney annual passholders, the MagicBand enables frequent guests to use their new band as their ticket into the park and more importantly, access to the FastPast+ system put in place earlier this year. In the past few weeks, Disney has been sending out emails to passholders requesting they go to the My Disney Experience website to customize and order their special MagicBands.
The MagicBand box sent to annual passholders is different from that normally sent to hotel guests. Instead of the Incredibles themeing, passholder boxes are blue with Mickey Mouse.
Along with the standard looking MagicBand, passholders receive a special 2014 MagicBand slider as part of their package. The slider announces them as an annual passholder and has the year imprinted on it.
Parking pass and Discount Card
Disney is also delivering passholder parking and discount cards along with the MagicBands. The new card will be used to receive passholder discounts on merchandise and dining in the parks as well as parking privileges for qualified passholders. The discount card must be shown with ID in order to receive discounts.
One of the problems with the new MagicBand system has been the lack of expiration date for passholders. Previously passholders were given a plastic card that was used as ticket to the parks. The card had neither the name or expiration date on it making it confusing as to when your pass expired. The new discount card lists both the name and expiration date for easy reference.
Passholders that have already signed up for their MagicBands should expect them to arrive through mail in the next few weeks.
