With the holidays fast approaching, new MagicBands are set to make an appearance at Walt Disney World.
The new MagicBand options include Princess Tiana, Mickey Mouse Christmas Sweater pattern and Orange Bird.
To expand the collection of standard color MagicBands, a new color is being added to the lineup. Purple will join the other standard MagicBand colors green, yellow, blue, red, orange and pink in late December.
Tired of the plain color MagicBand you received when making your hotel reservations and wish you could express your inner Disney-side a little more? Later this month, five new MagicBands featuring Disney character favorites will premier.
Disney recently released themed MagicBands featuring the characters from Frozen and is now expanding the collection with characters from other Disney films.

The Norway pavilion at Epcot is a little quieter today as their signature ride Maelstrom closed this past weekend.
Fans gathered throughout the day on Sunday for one more ride before Maelstrom joins previous closed Disney attractions in Yesterland.
Disney recently announced the ride closure while letting fans in on what was coming next. As part of the Frozen takeover, the ride will re-open with a new theme based on the popular Anna and Elsa film in 2016.

The Frozen sisters are taking over Walt Disney World and no one wants to stop them. Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts took to the Disney Parks Blog earlier today with the announcement of a new Frozen themed ride coming to the parks.
“I’m pleased to say that we’re starting construction at Walt Disney World Resort on a brand new “Frozen” attraction at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot. The new attraction, which replaces Maelstrom, will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film”, said Staggs in the announcement.
The Norway pavilion will also play host to a “royal greeting” area where guests will be able to meet and greet with Anna and Elsa.
“We think these “Frozen” elements are great complements to the Norway Pavilion, which showcases the country and region that inspired the film”, said Staggs.
Construction on the ride, is set to start later this year and rumored to re-open sometime in 2016. The last day for rides on the existing Maelstrom will be October 5, 2014. No word on whether this means Anna and Elsa will leave the current meet and greet at Princess Fairytale Hall in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom once the new ride opens.
Maelstrom opened in 1988 and has been a favorite ride of many guests throughout the years. Response of the news by Disney fans has been mostly negative.

Disney has released a new mobile app just in time for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Mayhem at the Mansion is an augmented reality game that guests can play while at the party using the built-in “Specter Collector”.
The three hitchhiking ghosts have escaped the Haunted Mansion and it’s up to players to find and collect them using the app. Once all the ghosts have been captured, they can be returned to their rightful place in the mansion.
The hitchhiking ghosts can be found in multiple areas around the Magic Kingdom. Guests wanting to play the game will be provided with a map detailing the ghost’s hiding spots.
The Mayhem at the Mansion application uses augmented reality, a technology that allows for 3D characters to be superimposed within the camera of a mobile phone. During the game, players will be locating and taking pictures of the hitchhiking ghosts to capture them.
To get started, a 3D Mickey Mouse dressed as a vampire gets players prepared for their mission with instructions and game details. Mickey Mouse will magically appear by directing the camera at a special target like the one below.
The Mayhem at the Mansion application can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store and can be used during evenings at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
