SeaWorld Teases New 200 Foot Coaster Coming in 2016

SeaWorld teased Friday a new coaster coming to the Orlando based theme park in 2016.

The new 200 foot-tall coaster is promised to be Orlando’s “tallest, fastest and longest coaster” when it opens next year.

While very little information is available about the new attraction at this time, SeaWorld is asking fans to follow the tag #nothingFaster on Twitter to be informed of updates.

Clyde & Seamore Return to SeaWorld

Clyde and Seamore make their return to the stage in an all-new show at SeaWorld called ‘Clyde & Seamore’s Sea Lion High’.

The newly revamped show stars guest favorites Clyde and Seamore continuing their adventures together, this time trying for a chance to go to Ocean University. Clyde and Seamore previously battled pirates in their last show at the park,’Clyde & Seamore Take Pirate Island’, until August of last year.

“Clyde and Seamore are nominated to win scholarships to Ocean University, they must enter crash courses in science, dance and gym in a storyline that is full of fast-paced fun”, said a SeaWorld spokesperson.



“We love creating a show like ‘Clyde & Seamore’s Sea Lion High’,” said Kelly Flaherty Clark, curator of animal training. “Finding entertaining ways to encourage guests to care about these animals is what we do, and this show does it in a way that makes you smile and laugh.”

‘Clyde & Seamore’s Sea Lion High’ can be seen daily at SeaWorld Orlando.

SeaWorld Responds to Blackfish Critics with Blue World Project

SeaWorld announced today that all three of their US theme parks will be receiving a massive upgrade to their orca habitats. Called the Blue World Project, the new habitats will nearly double the existing space of the current areas.

The new habitats will encompass up to 1.5 acres and contain a volume of 10 million gallons. As part of the new environment, guests will be able to see the orcas through a 40 foot tall viewing area.

“For 50 years, SeaWorld has transformed how the world views marine life. The unprecedented access to marine mammals that our parks provide has increased our knowledge of the ocean and inspired generations,” said Jim Atchison, Chief Executive Officer and President of SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. “Our new killer whale homes and research initiatives have just as bold a vision: to advance global understanding of these animals, to educate, and to inspire conservation efforts to protect killer whales in the wild.”

“Through up-close and personal encounters, the new environment will transform how visitors experience killer whales,” said Atchison. “Our guests will be able to walk alongside the whales as if they were at the shore, watch them interact at the depths found in the ocean, or a birds-eye view from above.”

The first of the new orca habitats will begin construction at SeaWorld in San Diego followed by Orlando and finally San Antonio with the initial opening planned for 2018.

In addition to the new orca habitat, SeaWorld has commited to $10 million in matching funds for research into threats faced by killer whales in the wild.

“Like so many others in science and industry, we are constantly learning more about how we can evolve our knowledge and continue to learn more about these amazing animals and stewardship of those in the wild,” Atchison said. “We look forward to working with these experts to build on these learnings and achieve our vision of increased knowledge of killer whales and global efforts to protect those in the wild.”

SeaWorld has been plagued recently with low attendance and outrage on social media following the release of the CNN sponsored Blackfish documentary last July. This past Wednesday, SeaWorld stock took a 33% plunge in price after the theme park company reported lower than expected earnings.

Jared Goodman, director of animal law for PETA, told the LA Times, “Anyone who cares about marine life and wants orcas and dolphins to live free with their pods is cheering the fact that SeaWorld’s stock is tanking.”

SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment stock price was up 1.43% this afternoon at 18.26.

Shamu “Light Up the Night” Kicks Off SeaWorld’s Summer Celebration

SeaWorld Orlando starts off the summer with all new entertainment including a new Orca nighttime show.

After being on hiatus for a few months, the orcas of SeaWorld return with an all-new nighttime show “Shamu’s Celebration: Light Up The Night”.

The new show delights guests with original music, new whale behaviors and a grand fireworks finale to end the night.

In addition to the Shamu show, a weekend daytime show called Generation Nature LIVE is also premiering. Guests learn about animal rescue and rehabilitation with an opportunity to meet many of the animals close up at the SEA Garden afterwards.

Shamu’s Dance Party takes guests into closing with high energy music, lights and bubbles to wind down the day. Shamu and friends party alongside guests in the Village Square.

SeaWorld Offering Summer Camps With Up Close Encounters

Need something fun for the kids to do this summer while you’re at work? SeaWorld Orlando is offering summer camp programs for Kindergarten through 12th grade children.

Kids get to interact directly with the people that make SeaWorld work, the veterinarians, animal trainers and animal care staff.

From SeaWorld, “SeaWorld Camps not only allow children to surround themselves with aquatic life and education, but they are also about making friends, having fun, exploring the great outdoors, riding world-class coasters and creating lifelong memories.”

SeaWorld Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Sea of Surprises

SeaWorld celebrates 50 years with the kick off of an 18 month long “Sea of Surprises” celebration. The new promotion featuring additional in-park entertainment will span SeaWorld’s three US parks in San Diego, San Antonio and here in Orlando.

SeaWorld Orlando Parks President Terry Prather detailed this morning what guests to SeaWorld Orlando can expect including new interactive experiences, shows and a “Surprise Squad” that will award guests with special prizes such as exclusive access to rides, behind-the-scenes experiences, Shamu-themed merchandise or reserved show seating.

Guests should expect to see additional live entertainment popping up throughout the park during their visit such as “Splash Dance” with sea-inspired costumes and props, and “Bubble Blowout” near Shamu’s Happy Harbor. Starting this summer, the killer whale show returns to SeaWorld with “Shamu’s Celebration: Light Up The Night” starting June 21.

SeaWorld is focusing on increasing attendance numbers in the face of increased local competition from Universal Studios and Walt Disney World which are both adding additional ride experiences. SeaWorld opened their Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin ride last year.

SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Offer Discounted Weekday Admission

Now through December 20th, guests can purchase a single day admission ticket to SeaWorld Orlando or Busch Gardens Tampa for use during a weekday for $50.

The $50 Weekday Ticket is available online to U.S. residents at SeaWorldOrlando.com or BuschGardensTampa.com, or by calling (888) 800-5447. The $50 Weekday Ticket is valid for one weekday’s admission to either SeaWorld Orlando or Busch Gardens Tampa and must be used by Friday, December 20, 2013.

For an additional $25, guests may add a day’s visit to Aquatica Orlando with the purchase of the SeaWorld Orlando Weekday ticket, or add a day’s visit to Adventure Island in Tampa with the purchase of the Busch Gardens Tampa Weekday Ticket. Guests may only purchase the additional visit to a waterpark with the purchase of the $50 Weekday Ticket.

SeaWorld Celebrating Independence Day with Food, Fireworks and Song

SeaWorld Orlando is ready to celebrate Independence Day with food, fireworks and song. SeaWorld recently started their annual Summer Nights promotion extending park hours until 10pm and ending the night with a fireworks display.

For the 4th of July holiday, July 3-6, SeaWorld is bringing out  a variety of all-American food to be served along Bayside Pathway, including bacon cheeseburgers, foot-long hot dogs, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches. Evenings at 9 p.m. the SeaWorld Celebration Singers, an ensemble of singers and nine-piece band, will perform a variety of popular music ranging from traditional marches to patriotic tunes at Bayside Stadium.

One of the main benefits of SeaWorld’s Summer Nights is the opportunity to ride popular attractions like Antarctica Empire of the Penguin at night when the park is less crowded. Also available during Summer Night is a special Shamu Rocks show starring SeaWorld’s famous Orcas.

Antarctica Empire of the Penguin brings South Pole Chill to SeaWorld

Antarctica Empire of the Penguin opens May 24 and brings with it Vanilla South Pole Chill, the latest in the line of custom drinks available at Orlando area theme parks. Vanilla South Pole Chill will be the exclusive Coca-Cola freestyle drink of Antarctica Empire of the Penguin. To go along with the new drink, SeaWorld Orlando is making available a reusable cup called the Cup That Cares. The cup contains an RFID badge that tracks the amount of times the cup has been used and tells the guest the how much their reuse has reduced their carbon footprint. Each refill of the cups will be $0.99.

There are two ways to enjoy the Cup That Cares:

  • Cup That Cares™ souvenir reusable cup – available at the two beverage stations inside the attraction for $9.99 – is adorned with photos of Puck™ and his penguin family. Puck is  the hero penguin character featured throughout the new realm.

SeaWorld Orlando Shows Off New Ride Vehicle in Action for Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin

SeaWorld Orlando has released video of their new ride vehicle in action for Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. The new ride vehicle first shown off at IAAPA earlier this year, allows guests to experience a different path through the attraction each time. In addition to the movement of the vehicle itself, the top portion can move independently to add to the experience.
